The short version
Sniplinks stores only what's needed to redirect a short link: the 6-character code, the destination URL, and an anonymous click count. We don't have user accounts, we don't set cookies, we don't log IP addresses against clicks, and we don't load any third-party advertising or analytics scripts.
What we store
- The short code we generate (e.g.
uvtaG). - The destination URL you submitted.
- A timestamp of when the short link was created.
- An anonymous click counter that increments on each redirect.
That's it. There is no user account attached to any link, no IP address recorded alongside clicks, and no per-visitor tracking of any kind.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, names, or email addresses.
- No cookies — there's no consent banner because there's nothing to consent to.
- No IP addresses or user agents recorded with click events.
- No third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.).
- No advertising trackers or fingerprinting.
Server logs
Our hosting provider may keep minimal request logs (IP address, request path, user agent) for security and abuse prevention, as is standard for any web server. These logs are short-lived, are not joined to your short links, and are never used for profiling.
Public visibility
Sniplinks is a public URL shortener. Anyone who knows or guesses a 6-character code can visit it and follow the redirect — so do not use Sniplinks to share private, confidential, or sensitive URLs. For private sharing, use an authenticated channel.
Removing a link
If you need a specific short link removed (for example, because the destination is no longer live or was created in error), contact us via the Contact page and we'll take it down.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Sniplinks handles data, we'll update this page. We'll never quietly add tracking, ads, or accounts — that would defeat the entire purpose.
